I am very excited to see what Ryan Hall does in his return to the marathon next Monday after several DNSs due to injury. I'm curious to know what his self-trained training philosophy is currently. I know he's taken a lot of flak for being so focused on the marathon and only the marathon with seemingly little care for speeds much faster than MP. I'm wondering if a season of 10k-type training with some shorter road races and maybe XC might be a good option for him to break out of his "rut." I use quotes there because him being in a "rut" still means that he is essentially still one of the top three marathoners in the US. Anyways, I wish him the best on Monday and we'll see if he can regain a bit of his former fire.
