Re: Any advice to help my sick son who has districts tomorrow in cross country?

I have a few questions if you may, Tinman. First, could you speculate on the upper limit of running (hrs/day) above which no further increase in blood volume occurs, and second, if you have to take a day off, would it be wiser to not run after a day of 2hr of running opposed to, say, a day of only 4...

Re: Any advice to help my sick son who has districts tomorrow in cross country?

Very interesting about blood volume loss. In hindsight, some of my best race efforts have been made following days with fairly long runs, albeit very slow to make sure they do not fatigue too much.

I don't think you need to worry Kevin, you seem to have no trouble performing well in races. Be thankful of that gift.

Re: Cadence Question

Good posts by AP and others here. It's unfortunate that many(?) think that consciously changing your stride frequency will make you a more economical runner; I suspect the opposite is true in most cases. From a personal observation I've gone from around 168 to 176 in cadence in a few years time with...

Re: No debate here, Mosop is definitely a forefoot striker

He's running quite fast in that video. I would like to see one where he jogs at 9 min pace and watch his stride, but it seems from the video that he indeed is a true forefoot striker.

Re: Difference between Tinman Style and Pfitzinger style?

Another difference is that Pfitzinger in his marathon schedules has "Vo2max"-workouts (long intervals @ 5k-pace) in the weeks leading up to the marathon, whereas Tinman does not seem to believe in doing that just before the race since you risk of training the wrong system so close to the marathon, a...

Re: Advice / recommendation - NUTRITION book to read????

About mileage and weight, I usually find that running the correct amount of mileage makes it easier to maintain weight. If I run more mileage than my body can handle, I gain a few pounds and feel a little bloated. Probably some kind of water retention due to increased stress hormones. For the record...

Hopefully they were all created in a short time span that should make deleting easy.

Re: GPS Watch

I've had three different GPS watches, the Garmin 305, 310XT and now the 610. Of these, the 305 and the 610 are the ones I have been most satisfied with. When comparing prices, the 305, albeit a bit older, is very much worth it's price and has all the functions you normally need. The 310XT adds a few...

Re: First post-need some training advice
Details may be different, but the underlying principles are remarkably similar, as with many of the top coaches.
It may be so, but when I study training logs from runners trying to folllow Daniel's schedules and paces, they are training alot harder compared to what Tinman ...

Re: Day Off and Loss of Efficiency

I agree with the last poster. If not taking a day off ever means less/no training adaption, then I don't think that loss of effiency is the main problem.

Re: Can anyone provide info about Tinman's Coaching???

Tinman has been my coach since 2009, and I've set PB's on every distance from 800m to half-marathon during that time, and also won 4 medals (2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze) in national master championships in Sweden. The training works, and I'm glad to be with a coach that knows how to train athletes...
