Thanks for the update Joan! Its been a blast following him the last few years... It would be great if there is a place we can look to keep track of his upcoming races. If not, can you post his schedule periodically on the run zone?
How is your running going Joan? Are you doing any racing?

Re: Tom Bernhard
Congrats to both Tom and Dave! There is something about that course... I had the same experience, a fast 1st mile and then a little slower for each of the last two.

Drew Hunter runs 3:58.25
New high school indoor American record! I knew he was going to get it with 400 to go. You knew he would run under 60, with the kick he has. Congrats to Drew, Joan, Marc and coach Tom Schwartz!!!!

Outstanding time and race! It looked like the strategy was to go out hard and see what was in the tank the 2nd half of the race? I look forward to following Drew in track. Congrats to Drew, the Hunter family, and Tinman!

Re: Brooks Track Meet live (Drew Hunter)
I had a feeling Drew was going to beat Fisher in the 2 mile based on how strong he looked during the last mile race. That is the first time anyone has beaten Fisher in two years I believe? Awesome. I didn't get to see the race live, but hopefully the video will be up soon.

Re: Adidas Track & Field meet on TV right now!
Here is the youtube link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ztgs2aPpwnE Fun race to watch! I'm surprised they didn't give Drew more publicity during this race. They didn't seem as informed as they should have been. That was quite an improvement from an outstanding race at the Penn Relays (4:07.15). Ni...

Re: I want to be the next Kevin Miller! ...but have miles to
Carrotchaser, I missed the obvious third choice, which is what your already doing. Use the book as the bases for your workouts. I haven't studied the workouts, but I did glance at them. They are just templates and are pretty generic, and don't take into account your specific circumstances. This isn'...

Re: I want to be the next Kevin Miller! ...but have miles to
Carrotchaser, I'm glad to see your primary focus is long term. I think one of the advantages we have as masters runners, is the ability to look back on our mistakes as young athletes, and make more realistic goals. Patience is a key element, which I didn't possess as a young runner. I've always had ...

Arthritis Reversable?
My running buddy Ron K, send me a link to a video by a Dr. Bergman, who is a chiropractor based in Huntington Beach California. Bergman claims Arthritis and meniscus issues can be repaired and cartilage can be regenerated. I'd love to get everyone's thoughts on this topic. He has a ton of free video...

Re: Insertional Achilles Tendinitis - Help Please
runthe8, I'm experimenting with the ElliptiGo right now. Tom is integrating it into my workouts, and we'll see what kind of results I get. I had meniscus surgery in May, so I decided to lower my mileage for a while, and integrate it into my workouts, especially while my body takes time to adjust. I'...

Re: Alberto Salazar Training Philosophy
I can see this approach working, if your life was only about running, and you didn't have a job or much family to worry about. Being able to get lots of sleep and take naps throughout the day, would help with recovery. But for the rest of us who squeeze running into an already full day, this would b...
