Re: Heart Rate Monitors

Thank you all for the responses. I ended up getting a Timex Easy trainer, mostly due to price @$40, and I was not sure if I would even like or be able to get used to a chest strap. I've used it 4 or 5 times without issue and its great. Confirmed (not surprisingly) that I was running my easy normal r...

Heart Rate Monitors

Looking for a simple heart rate monitor. Anyone have one they like; or a model to avoid? Also, has anyone tried a HR monitor that detects HR at the wrist instead of using a chest strap? If so, did it work? Thanks and Happy Holidays.

AAU vs USATF

I am new to youth track clubs.  Is there a difference between AAU and USATF clubs other than the obvious regulating organization?

Re: Update on Kevin Miller

Congrats Kevin!  I saw Kevin at about mile 8.5.  What amazes me is that he can run super fast times with no noticeable competition.  He was basically running alone when I saw him.  Nice job.

Re: coaching MS girls and running form question

Lyle, I enjoyed your post as I also have a MS runner (who also plays soccer).  It's so much fun to run with her.  As to question #2, I am not a doctor or PT.  But I have suffered pain in the bottom of my foot before.  Injury is frustrating.  After time off, I found a gentle return to running along w...

Thanks Tinman.  Also realized the "detrained" blood volume decline only applies to the "trained".

Re: Any advice to help my sick son who has districts tomorrow in cross country?

runthe 8, Thanks for sharing part of your son's XC journey.  Overcoming life's every day obstacles is a valuable learning experience.  The blood volume loss research is very interesting too (thanks Tinman).  My wife has MS, but aspires to build her strength back up to running a 5k again, which seems...

Re: First Run Since Arthrosurface Implant Surgery

Best wishes with your recovery.  Slow runs are better than no runs. For me the best thing about running is running and striving to improve within my own limits.
