Time Trial before race.
I know Tinman prescribes a time trial a few days before a big race and I read that Nick Willis did an 800 in 1:46 at practice 3 days before Monaco. An effort like that would worry me especially with low mileage HS kids but it is a great sharpening tool. Any input Tinman? http://www.letsrun.com/forum...

Re: Drew Hunter - 2 mile result
Once posted I urge you to all watch. This race was EPIC. I mean 3 tremendous talents battling throughout. The finish as I told Joan was not simply a kick. This was just raw competing at it's finest!

University of Tennessee Track
A lot of good comes from the NCAA but things like this just totally make you wonder if it's time for some changes to be made. These poor kids made a financial decision to attend Tennessee and just like that everything changes. A coach can leave for another job yet a student-athlete must sit a year...

Mather - Wetmore - Vigilante.
As Tom alluded Mather deserves a lot of credit for Wetmore's development as a coach and he apparently influenced Jason Vigilante (Texas, UVA now Princeton) as well. Pretty cool coaching tree. http://www.runblogrun.com/2012/09/catching-up-with-coach-vig-jason-vigilante-savors-collegiate-coaching-by-d...

Re: HS girls XC training - scratching my head
I will also be happy to contribute to this thread as I was in a similar spot during Josette's junior season. I had been following the Joe Vigil plan (aggressive mile repeats) and was very concerned looking at her during and after those efforts with regards to "wow she is going to the well". I foun...

Re: NB Nationals-Drew update
The 2 mile was fun to watch! Thanks for the kind words about Josette. She is healthy but could have used a few more races under her belt to hold off the kickers. She executed the plan perfectly, it just so happened that the others were a little better on Sunday. That was her 4th competitive mile ...

Re: The Comeback
Monica We well I feared the worse case scenario, because she could not run on it and the pain was intense. No stress fracture thank goodness and a VERY GOOD Physical Therapist got to the bottom of it. Basically it was a hip adductor over compensation issue. She ruptured the plantar fascia as many ...

The Comeback
Josette finally was healthy enough to race this weekend in the first round of NJ States. As many know she had ruptured her plantar costing her Foot Locker XC Nationals and the Indoor season. She was training great until a compensation issue shut her down in March for 3 weeks as she had intense qua...
