Re: distance training "zones"

Deadgoose I am going with Dilluh. Go with what your coach is saying. From what you are saying about your current paces that would suggest you are a 28 flat 10k guy.If your coach has got you there why not keep doing what you have been doing? Not that Tinman can't help but I think a 28 flat guy would ...

Tinman opinions on Andy Powell approach

Tinman

How do Andy Powell and your approach to training differ? Obviously you are having great success with Drew and was wondering what might lie ahead for him once he gets to Eugene.

Congrats Drew, Tinman and Runthe8

Crazy big congrats to all 3 and especially Drew who was just phenomenal (well what I could see in the 3 secs I was not staring at the footlocker ref blowup thingy)

Going to be exciting watching Drew in the years to come.

Re: Drew Hunter - 2 mile result

I saw the video link on letsrun before logging in here. Really cool to see that race. Drew was awesome. Besides the finish battle, Drew led that thing from the start and was pretty much the single reason that it was that quick and he was still able to finish.
Great job to both Drew and runthe8

Re: CV Pace - Feeling stronger in heart/lungs than legs

It may just be because you are on a treadmill. Sometimes when I do quality sessions on the TM, I feel that the pace feels a lot harder than it should and it appears to be a leg strength issue. Sometimes the sessions feels just fine at the same speed and is no problem at all. I attribute it to the f...

Re: Short Speed / Strides After a Time Trial??

Josh I normally do something extra after a 2400m TT. Will take a really good recovery jog, at least 5min after I finish the 2400 and then I do 3 x 1000 Threshold reps with 60 sec jogs. Do a normal c/down like I would for any other workout after the reps. My thinking is that even though the 2400 is h...

Re: Longer easy runs at “very” easy pace...

Good to see that what I think Lydiard referred to as the "complex" training system is still in use. From my understanding it was a balanced schedule but it deviated slightly from Lydiard in that many of the components or speeds were blended into the weeks worth of running (plenty of short fartleks ...

Tinman any value in combining 5k pace into threshold run???

I was reminiscing with a friend and we talked about way back in the day when the then European 10k and 3k steeple champion Francisco "Rambo" Panetta came and did some winter training at our track (it was his winter our summer). We were amazed that he was doing 'speed" work at that time of year and a...

2 a Days and Recovery

As I build volume over time I want to add a 2nd run on some days. With my school and work schedule I have very limited time to do this and one of my only options is on a Monday. I do my long run on a Sunday. Even though I would not be adding overall volume would there be a benefit to doing a am) 4mi...

To Piggyback Training VS Races Thread

I was reading the training VS races thread and it got me thinking. I have pretty much been out of running (or anything else for that matter) for around 11 months. Some friends convinced me to sign up for a half marathon in mid March. I have actually now run 44 consecutive days starting with 10min ru...

Re: Drew Hunter and Ciara

awesome for all involved. Congrats. I was following the results online. I guess Ciara will be headed to George Mason next year. I am sure Drew is going to have all sorts of schools giving him a call towards the end of track season and going into his senior year of cross. Look forward to see the resu...

Re: Marathon Training Help

Becky I hear what you are saying but I have to ask why you feel you need to be able to go faster than MP when you are running a marathon? I think during your build you could have used some CV pace stuff, but 1 week out I am thinking you stick with what you have been doing and you can change things a...
