Re: Periodized or consistent training

Many great words from Dilluh here. There is a sweet spot in training where you'll gain improvement. If you do too much, you will burn out. If you do too little, you will not improve. And this is where Tinman's genius comes into play: He just needs a sneek peak into your previous training and racing ...

Great article about Tom and Drew.

Since nobody has posted it here yet, I'll do it: http://www.letsrun.com/news/2016/02/meet-elementary-school-pe-teacher-mastermind-behind-americas-greatest-prep-distance-runner/ It just makes me really happy that a great article like this about Tom is posted on Letsrun.com. I have read through most o...

Re: Drew Hunter's Mileage

Thanks for the answers. Seems evident that the strenght training has benefited his running form. Very wise to focus on making him strong all around. Good job!

Re: Drew Hunter's Mileage

Drew looks so strong and solid in his upper body when he runs fast. Does he do a lot of upper body/core training, or is he just strong by nature?

Re: Training before joining the marathon.

Yes, you might want to do some training before your marathon. It's a good idea.

Re: First Time Marathon Strategy

I think an obvious goal for a first time marathon would be to finish in a reasonable time without turning things into a sufferfest. This. I will never forget the shock, in my first marathon, of finding myself totally drained of all energy and with legs cramping up and realizing I had 12 km left to ...

Thanks guys! . dkggpeters, yes to work really hard for something for a very, very long time and then manage to succeed. What better feeling is there for a human beeing? Re: Marathon paced workouts

I nailed it! 2:57!

I am so happy right now. This is one of the best days in my life.

Thank you so much Tom for what you have done for my running. You are a true genious. I thought I had reached my limit when I ran 3:12. I was so wrong. I'm only getting started.

Thanks mate!

Re: Marathon paced workouts

Sounds like you are also on track for sub 3 hours. I ran Frankfurt in 2013, its also very fast, but it has some sharp turns in the beginning and the end of the race. The finish in the Festhalle is really great! Yes I hope I can make 3 hours in Berlin, but my problem in the marathons I have run has b...

Re: Marathon paced workouts

I wanted to know, if you would share your experience about marathon pace development in training about 5 to 6 weeks prior to the marathon. Did the pace in the race match with the pace you ran in training? Or, did only the effort feel the same but the pace was slower? Have you a special predictor wo...
