Aerobic power vs. VO2 max

The Tinman pace calculator has paces for both aerobic power and VO2 max. Can anyone explain the difference between these paces and the differences in effects of each type of workout?

Thanks everyone!

Why can't we run for more than an hour at lactate threshold?

Hello The Run Zone community, Tinman and others have defined the lactate threshold as the pace that can be sustained in a 1-hour race. My understanding is that at paces faster than lactate threshold, acidosis is the limiting source of fatigue but that running at exactly the lactate threshold causes ...

However, one topic eludes me: the aerobic threshold. Physiologically, we can say that: -- the lactate threshold (or anaerobic threshold, or ...

Re: 800m - speed vs endurance

Thank you Tinman for the great information. I have one question about this outline - I've read that you advocate doing only two workouts per week and a long run. Re: Tempo Runs vs Cruise Intervals

I am curious to know why a long tempo has the same benefit as a relatively shorter threshold run and a relatively even shorter CV intervals workout. Maybe it has to do with muscle fiber recruitment. How about this: "Type IIa muscle fibers are recruited rather quickly at CV pace, somewhat quickly at ...

What do aerobic/anaerobic capacity/resistance/power mean?

Hello members of TheRunZone, I am trying to understand what aerobic/anaerobic endurance/capacity/resistance/power are. I've seen these terms around the internet and in some books, but I've never seen a precise definition. If it's possible, can someone define these in terms of numbers, units, physica...
