Re: Adding strength training (weights) to Big Workouts sched

Short quick reply on an older post. If you can search up Dave Peters posts here on the site, he was doing a similar training week as you, except his Big Workout days were Tue/Sat. He was doing almost exactly what you proposed strength-work wise 2-3 sets of 3-5 reps, long recoveries, and the day afte...

Re: Cross-Training for Longevity

To follow on something Runthe8 mentioned, regarding 10 min runs. Along with running I've been working on ruck marching lately, typically 1 hour on Wed, and 2 hours Sunday. Since those are not full-on run focused days, I've found an easy 5-10 minute run before and after the rucking has helped a lot i...

6 Ways To Simplify Your Training With Steve Jones (article)

An article I really enjoyed reading, with many points not at all dissimilar to many of Tom's recommendations.

It's about a year old, so not exactly new, but I don't think it's been mentioned here.

Re: why the short recoveries with CV reps?

Cruise Intervals I believe would be more in-line with Tinman prescribing say 4-5x 1 mile @ 5K + 10% / 60-90 sec. rec; and therefore a slower pace than CV intervals. More of an LT pace range? (I'm sure and hopefully will be corrected if I'm wrong). CV covers a nice little pace range which I pretty mu...

Re: Nice article about Drew mentions CV reps

I keep procrastinating in replying to this. That was a great article. But most importantly, congrats to your son. Both of them actually I should say, as I have really enjoyed reading the updates regarding them and their training/your coaching.

Re: First 5k in a Long Time - Need Goal Advice

Josh1 (mathwiz1???), I'm in a similar boat after lots of recurring injuries and ran my first race this morning in almost 2 years. I'm not sure I'll ever wear even a watch again for these short races, certainly not a GPS. Maybe try a race without worrying about pace and continue to hone in on effort....

Re: Shoe question

I'm semi-repeating myself from another thread, so apologies for boring anyone. I typically prefer as minimal as possible. But for awhile felt like I needed something with a little cushioning and was back in GT2000s. But as much as I like the protection of a softer shoe, my body ( and I have some min...
