Re: CV Pace - Feeling stronger in heart/lungs than legs

Billy, Do you know how accurate your TM's speed is? Some TMs can be mis-calibrated and off by as much as 0.5 MPH or more. Mine is consistently operating at 0.2 MPH faster than the display says, for slower speeds (< 10MPH), but can be off by 0.4 MPH at faster speeds. (Anything more than 0.5 MPH off a...

Re: Getting in decent shape fast.

If you're looking to get in shape quick, what ever "in shape" or "quick" means, I wouldn't hire any coach. You'll just be disappointed in the results. However, if you want a sensible approach, that has a better chance of success, then by all means, hire Tinman. Other coaches or plans might not facto...

Re: Treadmill Purchase

I started with a the Sole and thought it was a pretty good treadmill too. However, it only lasted about 2 years, and it was primarily used during the winter months, but then not even every day. The problems I had were the following: - the bolt that held the incline motor in place broke once - slop d...

sweet!

do any of you have any stomach issues while taking this?

It's never been an issue for me. Fwiw, I can't handle drinking gatorade during races.

Re: Ultra Marathon Fueling Advice

Myself and others have used it in marathons and have had success with it in terms of setting lifetime marathon PRs.  My experience is I never bonked/crashed in the race, unlike the races I attempted without the HJ. Of course, Tinman's training probably was the primary factor in that. I think your pr...

Re: Marathon Training Help

My first suggestion will be to hire Tinman for the next 13 weeks. He normally doesn't start a marathon specific build up until 12 to 13 weeks out so it's  not too late.. If the first suggestion doesn't pan out, I suggest reading the article he wrote under the "Tinman's Articles" that talks about mar...

Re: road to grass conversions for workouts

I've never seen a thread about this, but I doubt there's an easy conversion. So much depends on the length and thickness of the grass and how soft the ground is. I've both ends of the extremes (hard ground, very short grass, and soft ground w/ long thick grass). Times are drastically different. I've...

Re: doubles on low mileage for 5k/10k running

I think there's value in both ways, as is evident with Tinman's training programs.

Also, Steve Magness wrote a  pretty good article on this topic:

Re: Base Training Feedback

Based on your times dropping on rather unstructured and adhoc training (no offense intended), you appear to have some running ability. To go from 1:31 to 1:20 is a significant drop. If you really want to see what you're capable of, I suggest hiring Tinman as your coach starting now until your next r...

[quote="Gabe1"] By the way: To race a marathon after just 4 months of training and 0 races would make my nerves go crazy.
