Re: Longer easy runs at “very” easy pace...

Would Ed Whitlock, the Canadian Marathoner, be an example of this type of training also? I think he said that he ran 3 hours almost every day at an easy pace. He was the first person over age 70 to run under 3 hours in the Marathon I believe.

Re: Heart Rate Monitors

My daughter uses a $55 Polar HR monitor. It does have the chest strap. But works great. 2 years running. She uses a Garmin 210 for GPS.
She loves it.

Re: Training Milestones

I would assume that you normally run two hard workouts per week? Without giving too much detail, would that include 5-6 x 1k at CV pace most weeks?
And to run all that on a treadmill - my hat is off to you. I have to have the open sky, rain, wind, etc. ;)

Re: Knee pain - ITBand?

About 3 months into running I started feeling pain on the outside of my knee at about 4 miles. Fortunately I have a Brother In Law, the good type, who has run 50 marathons, who told me how to stretch my IT band. I've always done some maintenance on it and never have had issues. My wife however, had ...

Re: Repetition length in stamina workouts

What would be the changes in adaptation if one ran 8 x 1k at CV with 2 minutes rest. Is the 1 minute jog critical to the adaptation of 1k @ CV? At what length does the recovery become too long to realize the benefit?

Re: Repetition length in stamina workouts

I would stick to the 6x1k. I would only do the 3x2k sparingly. And the 2x3k in preparation for a race if I had not been racing that month.

If you slowed the paces by a few seconds, then it would be more in line with 'train, don't strain.'

Re: Durability of Skechers shoes

I just purchased a pair of Skechers Go Run Ultras. I have about 100 miles on them now, and do not notice any abnormal wear. The cushioning is very soft. I suspect almost similar to a Hoka or Altra. One caveat, sometimes I can feel the structure of the soles. They are nice for recovery runs and/or lo...

Re: Protecting my endurance

If the above assumption is true, then how long does it take to 'lose' endurance, and how long to gain it back? I would think this would be important for those who run Marathons and perhaps 5k/10k's.

Re: Aerobic Capacity

Taking into account the time to recover before the next workout, maybe this pace can be used intermittently with CV paced or TT workouts? For instance, two workouts at 20 seconds faster than 5k pace. 4-6 x 1,000 with 3-5 minute jogs. And then 2-3 weeks at CV pace, or longer workouts at TT pace. Keep...
