Your training isn't modulated enough - you are doing too many hard days/medium-hard days. I think your training would benefit from more endurance work and cutting the number of fast sessions to just one a week and then adding on strides most days of the week as well as increasing the overall trainin...

it would seem to me this is largely dependent on 1) the previous training of your athletes, in particular there summer/early fall build ups (2) the amount of racing they will be doing and (3) the age and experience of these athletes. That workout is something tinman does often - combining longer stuff (mile rep's @ 5k + 30s) and shorter quicker stuff (4 x 200 @ 1500). I would just say be careful because that is a long workout and it can be easy to overrun this workout. I think Rupp's workout probably had a longer rest due to the...

I agree with you that slower, longer tempo runs are highly valuable and not a waste of time for 5k runners.
