Re: Military: Anyone in it? Out of it? Opinions?

You just asked a question which when I see posed; I can't help but give my view on. If you make that choice to join, I don't think you will ever regret it. If you have your bachelors, unless there is a specific reason (as I did with a bachelors) that you want to go in enlisted, then work for an offi...

Wariner 44.13

I know this is racing related technically....but I am really happy to see Wariner showing some promise, especially getting so close to getting into the 43s again. I want to see not only that, but how will he respond when Merritt is back competing with him. Instead of fading he looked good in that la...

Re: 5km Road Race

Drew,

I can understand wanting to stay off of the radar but anytime guys such as yourself, Tinman, AP, and AT post.... there is rarely not at least one gem of information. Thanks again for the insight and what a great race time.

Percy Cerutty and Portsea footage

I know this should go in the video section....but it I thought it was much too good to take the chance that it wasn't viewed. Only problem is that I dont speak French. He was probably close to age 65 in this video ???? http://www.ina.fr/sport/athletisme/video/CPF04006926/le-sorcier-de-port-sea.fr.html

Re: Tinman Tempo's in the Heat

AT, did you get the email I had sent ? I used the email link from here on the site. Last year when I was overseas I spent some time in a place that was about 110 most days. I did really well in it, much to my surprise. So well in fact that it pointed out to me how much the humidity is the factor whi...

Re: Tinman Tempo's in the Heat

Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. I believe that it was about 93 degrees with 45% humidity... ridiculous I did a 5x 6 min / 1 min jog rec. fartlek workout. The pace was somewhere in between Tinman Tempo to a Jack Daniels LT pace. Mentally I just would have felt like crap doing a workout of 30 mins continu...

Re: Critical Velocity Volume

Though I don't know his exact guidelines, just as a frame of reference; in the Fall of 2008 before deploying I was running 18:24 ??? for a 5K and he prescribed 8x800s for me, which was basically about 24 total minutes of CV volume.

Re: Now a question on Pre-Workout snacking

Thanks for the input fellas. I agree with ATimmins about keeping a regular diet for regular training runs. I think this has helped me maintain optimal body comp and not over-saturating myself with tons of carbs or sugars when I need to be encouraging fat burning as fuel. Typically I would use the sa...

Re: Now a question on Pre-Workout snacking

There is just enough evidence about possible adverse health effects on the body that make me leary of consuming it. I believe even Gatorade this year is phasing out HFCS from all of its products. At least from a personal standpoint I handle it like artificial sweetners (Splenda, Equal, etc.), though...

Now a question on Pre-Workout snacking

This is an area in which I would like to read other's strategies for nutrition for an afternoon pre-workout snack or nutrition, what foods sit well, how much, and timing in relation to your run. I've experimented lately with Fig Newman's as they are at least organic and fairly easy on the stomach. I...
