Re: Critical Velocity?

In the link below if you go down to the "WHAT MAKES UP A CV TRAINING SESSION?", it would appear that your memory serves you well. http://peakrunningperformance.com/docs/Critical_Velocity.htm From a timed fartlek standpoint for CV workouts; the work:recovery ratio is typically 15-20 secs for every 60...

Re: Post-run Recovery "Supplements" & "Aids"

Funny that you bring up this subject. Typically after a harder/longer session I get in my carbs and a good serving of protein via whole foods. I typically can eat pretty quickly after most of my runs. However yesterday morning, I put in a longer LT type session (11 mi total), on an empty stomach at ...

Re: How little quality training can you get away with?

Interesting as I think Tom has mentioned a 5 day cycle that he has done before. A quality session once every 5 days.

Since this hadnt been answered yet... Andrew is coached by Tinman, and he speaks highly of him in some previous posts.

Re: what are the benefits of running flats?

I bought new shoes 2 weeks ago, and ended up buying 2 pair of the Asics Speedstars. I tried the Boston's also and man those felt just as good. Actually, I bought a pair of the Speedstars first, but then when I went back to get another pair, tried on the Boston's and I don't think I would have gone w...

Re: Most running shoes are overweight garbage

I started looking for new shoes today and tried on the Adidas adiZero Boston and was very impressed. (I want to find and try on the Asics Speedstar, and the Lunar Trainer as well). However, it was what AP had mentioned that makes me glad I checked the Adidas. That the shoes are constructed more narr...

Re: Elite siting

Great to know I have something in common with the elites. I was out running in the snow/rain yesterday, looking lean, and running at (about) 6:00 minute mile pace. Come to think of it though, I think that is where the similarities end though,as my pace was more like a CV pace and it certainly didnt ...

Long Run For Mid-Distances

Good points and at least in my case I think that you probably said it right in that I was running below my maximum training load. At the time when I began putting more focus on running, I just wasn't willing to commit to running everyday yet even though I could have.

Long Run For Mid-Distances

For what it's worth, from personal experience, even when I began running/training I was only committing to 3-4 days of running per week on T/Th/S/Su. I would have to go back and check my logs but I don't think I was running more than 24-27 miles per week total but was still able to put in about a 12...

Shoes again...

... I had to buy a new pair of shoes and was pretty limited by my location, they were a pair of ASICS 2140s. Is it just me or do these feel rather inflexible and even though not terribly heavy they are "brickish". Anyone compared them to the 1100 series? I wanted a bit more cushioning but these 2140...

Most running shoes are overweight garbage

The past month I made a transition from my regular Nike Free 5.0s to the Asics 2140. I found that because I had to do all of my running on concrete, even interval/fartlek work I needed a shoe with more cushioning. I couldn't believe the difference in weight and struggled a bit with that and feel. Ot...

State XC

I can say that the 5 months Tom was helping me before deploying, I dont think I ever once felt like my nerves were completely sapped from consistently repeating weeks which included a CV and Tempo run each week. My plan was mixed up every couple of months for a bit, but it was only for about 3 weeks...
