Advancing and improving Tempo pace after a layoff

I am about 4 weeks back into running from a 2 month layoff. Even before then I wasn't getting in a lot of stamina work so it's been awhile since I've worked this range of pace, and been years since I've had to really work from the bottom back up. I've now been able to get an idea of my current/appro...

Rupp and Farah training day

Good read and glimpse into a Rupp and Farah training day.
I like the "bunching" of the interval work and strength training on the same day.

Re: Race Update for Tinman coached runners

Always great to read these updates!

I think I saw Pete Magill post a pic with, or one in which he was tagged with Kevin, perhaps from this race? Regardless, great stuff!

Re: The Mechanics of Running and the Role Shoes Play

Great job. To consider the time off, and, total resurfacing of your knee you're doing great in my book. My shoe needs seem to change on almost a daily basis over the past few weeks. For over a month I was doing tons of training in the Pegasus, as I just seemed to need a more cushioned trainer for aw...

Re: The Mechanics of Running and the Role Shoes Play

That's great news! Thanks for the update.
How far off was your time from some of your better half's?
Regardless though, if you're anything like me, you probably just feel sane now that you're running in some form again!

Re: The Mechanics of Running and the Role Shoes Play

Hey Ron, I wanted to check in to see how your race went (presuming you were able to), hope it went well and that it was a pain-free and encouraging race!

Re: First Ever Plantar Pain

I got  hit with plantar fascia pain which stayed with me for just about 1 year. It started when I inadvertently started running too moderately too much. It was enough though to make me take about 3 weeks off last October. It continued to flare up again early this spring and by the end of March or fi...

Re: The Mechanics of Running and the Role Shoes Play

That's great. I was just commenting to AP a few days back how I have been running so well lately in the Nike Pegasus 28s, when I have more times than not been on the more minimal side (5.0s, SpeedStars, Kinvara 2s, etc.). That being said, just last fall it was Brooks T7s which were the only shoe I c...

A couple of new articles

http://runningtimes.com/Article.aspx?ArticleID=27176 Above is Pete Magill's newest article. I it when guys like Pete describe their training and it certainly makes me feel human when even he says that he runs at about 9 min/mi pace in the mornings. http://getinthetrailer.com/2012/10/jimmy-grabow-is-...
