Tinman and interested others, Not strictly a marathon training question but with comrades marathon coming up i was wondering what sort of time you think the 2.05 marathon runners could post, the record is held by a 6 feet 4 russian 2.09 runner at 5.20, which i think is 3.36 per km.i know marathons a...

Need Help with a lesson plan

Apologies if this has already been mentioned as i only skimmed the replies. I would take physical, psychological and social aspects of performance and examine in chronological order towards a goal race. maybe even starting from introduction to the sport that can be years previous to the few minutes ...

velocity proportional to oxygen consumption?

okay, i see. on a side vvo2 max, is a function of efficiency and vo2max, so calculating a percentage of vo2 max consumption would only yield the same percentage of vvo2max assuming efficiency was constant at all running speeds. is it fair to assume that the slower the speed of running, closer to eve...

velocity proportional to oxygen consumption?

theleadpack website Interview by: Derick Lawrence (2/04/2008) Q.You coined the term “vVO2max.” Could you describe this term and how you came up with it? Also, how can this be applied to coaching? "...........If you want you could take a vVO2max value and consider that speed to be associated with VO2...

Training Organization, and Heat question

my opinion:
if "sucking it up" in singles makes you ill, it defeats the object of training, if its uncomfortable but bearable do it.
if i was to break up 8 miles, i would do 4/4 because i couldnt bear to get changed for less than 30 mins of running, it probably takes a mile or 2 to warm up aswell.

Most effective way to double

tinman has stated previously on lets run that at circa 70 miles per week, you were slightly below that before, slightly above that volume now, the bodies slow twitch fibres respond in ever reducing increments, hence larger increases in volume are required or faster paces to facilitate greater stimul...

CV sessions on the treadmill

pros-the pace is out of your hands and even/controlled nice variation on a theme, change is as good as a rest and all easily replicate sessions over period of time without environmental variations cons-treadmill running doesnt identically replicate outside running lose the intrinsic pace judgement t...
