Hoka Shoes

I'm just recently returning to running from a partial meniscal removal in my right knee (had similar procedure on L knee in 07). Last time I bounced back very quickly, but I'm not having the same results this time. After running I experience dull knee pain in both knees which subsides in a day or two but returns with running even though I have cut my miles in half.

I've tried several different types of cushioned shoes with similar results. In talking with some other local runners with similar knee issues they seemed to have results with the Hoka shoes. I don't know much about them and was wondering if anyone on this board has and experience with them. Thanks for any input you may have.

I don't know anyone whom has used them.  Some of the older folks (I am old to but like to feel the road under my feet) seem to really like them.

I haven't put any on, but there are a number of local runners where I live that swear by them, especially for recovery.

I have trained high mileage on Hoka's for trails and up to 53 mile runs. They are a remarkable experience, they smooth out the trail and take the impact out of downhills and make uphills seem easier. It almost feels like cheating wearing them!!

Interestingly, I have tended to vear away from them and wear them less and less because I like to feel closer to the ground and trail and more connected with it. This does mean a higher level of fatigue and a 'rougher ride' but I prefer that. I like rock hopping and accelerating over the terrain in a way that Hoka's dampen.

I notice that their Elite Stable is getting stronger all the time and more people are turning onto them. If you have never tried them and have issues with stability or fatigue related injuries, they may help....I would say that most reviews you will have read were accurate for me and they do seem to do what they claim.

All the best
