I live on the Texas Gulf Coast where heat and humidity is a constant companion during the summer.
I am finding that as I get older, the heat effects me more. I can still run close to the same pace that I could 7 or 8 years ago as long as the temperature is below ~55F. However, now that I am beyond 60, I am finding that I my heat adjusted pace is now much slower than it used to be. I understand about max HR changes with age, which means less blood available to the muscles once the drain to the skin for cooling is considered.
Therefore, my question is whether there is any guidance available to the Master or Senior runner on how to further adjust the pace provided by the Heat Index Chart?
