What pace does he does his easy and recovery runs in? Do you use heart rate or something else. Or just 100% by feel ?

20-30 minutes of cool down running follow important races. After unimportant races, I schedule a moderate workout, such as fartlek or hill reps.

Easy days are quite easy. No need to impess anyone on days between key workouts or races!
