I'm returning to running after ~10 year layoff. I'm a former 15:xx 5K runner, and was even running in the low 16s in my mid 30s. I'm now 47 and much older, bigger, and slower. I never liked training with a strap around my chest, but I may be at a point where I can use it as a guide as I really need some targets to keep my pace down to what's effective for my current weight and fitness rather than running at a pace that my legs "remember."
I've been out of the loop, but can only assume that there are better options now than were available in the early 2000s.
Thanks for any insight.
